I have started to look at the 'three wise monkeys' within my research. I would like to use this concept to create a series of either drawings or paintings to highlight what the police are faced with. I also want to show how the police are perceived by different groups of people as some will see them as the hero, the villain and some will see them as normal people doing their job.
I had an idea of including text into my drawings/paintings:
'The villain hears lots of evil'
'The hero sees lots of evil'
'The police shall speak no evil' - This is to show who the police are
I thought about creating contemporary patterns from the Victorian police divisions map and having them as a background for the portraits. Answering the question 'Where do we come from?'
For the 'see no evil' I will have a police man holing binoculars and they will have social networking symbols on the glass to highlight how technology is increasingly being used as a form of crime and as a way of helping to stop crime. Which will answer the question 'Where are we going?'
